Despite “July 2010” being all over the reopening banners on the construction site at 420 Des Plaines Ave., Forest Park’s new McDonald’s won’t be open this month.

The village’s version of the golden-arched fast-food hub, which dated to the 1960s, was torn down in March for what was expected to be a four-month construction job on a bigger, updated restaurant that will have a two-lane, 24-hour drive-through.

“Due to the labor strike, the restaurant’s target open date has been delayed,” a spokeswoman for McDonald’s told the Review on Monday. “At this time, we do not have an exact date for the restaurant’s opening.”

The detail on the banner that’s still current is the Web address for job applicants. To apply for a job at McDonald’s in Forest Park, go to www.mcillinois.com/600.

“We are still evaluating staffing needs,” the McDonald’s spokeswoman said.
