In both a text message and a phone call that went out to residents’ phone numbers Sunday afternoon, Forest Parkers are being asked to put flood-damaged goods in their alleys.
To help residents with cleanup after intense rains that followed the storm a month ago, the village had placed extra Dumpsters at five locations around town. After this weekend’s storm, the plan instead is to add collection runs by the village’s garbage service.
After clarifying that, in Forest Park, residents can place any item at any time in their alley for pickup, Village Administrator Tim Gillian said the village’s garbage service will be making added runs whenever possible, not on a given schedule. The day for usual garbage pickup is Thursday.
Parking ban relaxed until Saturday
The overnight parking ban on village streets is being lifted until Saturday so residents can use their garages for storage as they keep cleaning.
Beware of cleanup solicitors
In another phone alert that came from the village on Saturday afternoon, residents were advised to think cautiously about contractors knocking on their doors and offering cleanup services. If someone making such an offer can’t show ID, licensing with the village and insurance, you’re asked to dial 911.
