A very happy 90th birthday to a remarkable Forest Park lady, May Bill. May has led a charmed life. She was married at a young age to the man of her dreams, the late Bob Bill. Their baby, Janet, was born while daddy Bob was in Okinawa, Japan. In Okinawa, Bob learned the skill of auto mechanics, which stood him in good stead for the rest of his working life. The men he served with regularly held reunions all over the U.S. They and their wives had 50 years of exciting vacation/reunions all over the country, including at the home of one family who lived in Hawaii. Daughter Janet was the pride and joy of their life. Janet, a Forest Park teacher, married Gary Fink, also a Forest Park teacher. Bob and May were thrilled with their new son-in-law. Then came grandchildren, Jill and Corey, to add to May’s joy and bragging rights. When Bob died there was a dignified, memorable tribute to a former soldier and a very good man. May carried on, but not ever alone. Great grandchildren are now an important part of her life. Most of the important occasions of the Bill Family Life are marked by the chiming of the bells of St. Peter’s Church. Unfortunately May’s 90th birthday will probably not be one of these occasions. She is going to spend Nov. 28 with Janet and Gary so we’ll have to give her a birthday spanking sometime later. Wow! 90 spanks!
