The Village of Forest Park recently agreed to a $50,000 settlement with local restaurateur and developer Robert Marani to end a 2010 lawsuit.

A copy of the settlement, obtained by the Forest Park Review through a Freedom of Information request, states that the agreement was made on Dec. 20.

The village board announced that it had agreed to the terms of the settlement at a Jan. 10 council meeting, but commissioners and village officials did not provide specifics at that time.

The settlement was reached following a lawsuit that Marani filed in August 2009, in which he accused the village of violating his civil rights, interfering in his business relationships, inflicting emotional distress and denying him equal protection under the law.

His condo development, Tuscan Lofts, is named in that suit.

The settlement states that there is no admission of liability or wrongdoing on the village’s part.
