James “Bud” Binns passed away on Jan. 10 at the age of 82. He is survived by his two children, Amy Binns-Calvey and Jimmy; his sister Elizabeth “Betty” Keefe; and his life-long friend and former spouse Elaine Rose. Bud was also grandfather to Miranda, the daughter of Amy and her husband Geoff; and to Emma, Jimmy’s daughter.
Bud’s daughter Amy noted that his life was “varied, dynamic and joyous.” He was born in Cleveland on September 15, 1928. His early jobs reflect such eclecticism: farmhand, salvage diver, bowling pin setter. He was also in the Coast Guard during World War II. But, Bud’s passion was the theatre and he worked as an actor throughout his life.
In his later years, he moved to the Chicago area to be closer to family members. He settled in Forest Park, where he resided until his recent passing.
Services for Bud were held last week.
