The kids and dogs have been having a riotous winter. When the 9-foot-high snow wall on Madison Street appeared, the kids just turned it into another reason to enjoy a snow day with friends. Belma Ortiz, Chila Ortiz, Anthony Ortiz, Diana Hassell, Lany Concannon, Taylor Hassell and Lazaro Padilla shouted ecstatically all afternoon.
Some virus from cyberspace crawled into my brain last week and I omitted half the column. Then I blamed our new editor. Apologies to Nick Moroni and the people whose photos didn’t appear.

Congratulations to Bob Cox and his daughter Audrey. Bob and Audrey graduated from college on the same day recently – Bob from UIC with a degree in urban planning and public administration. Audrey’s degree was from Dominican University, and she is now a qualified nutritionist. Later in the year, Bob and his wife, Sharon, will celebrate their wedding anniversary with a visit to Scotland; Bob will be wearing his kilt, of course. Picture to follow.
