Two Forest Park men were arrested on felony gun charges after they allegedly tried to hold up a man in his vehicle on the 900 block of Dunlop Avenue on the afternoon of May 2.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle contacted 23-year-old Steven “Fifty” Brown to purchase a quarter ounce of marijuana for $125. A report states that, once the driver approached the abovementioned location, Brown and 21-year-old Deandre “Dre” Presswood got in – Brown in the front and Presswood in the rear.

“They decided they’re going to rip this guy [driver] off,” Det. Sgt. Mike Keating said.

Once they were inside the car, Presswood allegedly pulled out a gun and tried to rob the driver. Keating said the driver turned around and began to struggle with Presswood, while Brown, in turn, began punching the driver.

During the kerfuffle, the gun went off and shot a hole through the car floor, at which point both suspects fled the scene.

Police responded to a call of multiple shots fired on the block and ultimately caught up with the driver who gave a similar account of the aforementioned events.

Following the interview, authorities drove to Presswood’s home where he was eventually taken into custody; Brown was arrested separately.

Both Presswood and Brown were charged with a single felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm.
