Congratulations to Rawra Shanahan who recently became a U.S. citizen. Rawra came to us from the Czech Republic many years ago, which, by the way, is another hint about the cemetery.

Hats off to Louie for opening his bright, new restaurant at the corner of Constitution Court and Madison Street. The new eatery reopened just in time for Louie to celebrate his birthday, on June 17.

A salute to Cindy Wood, who recently completed all the courses she needs and has a degree in medical technology. She is hoping to find work soon so she doesn’t forget the names of all those surgical instruments.

In case you are looking for some excitement in your life, the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest is holding its 80th anniversary gala on Sept. 24 at the Carlton Hotel, 1110 Pleasant St., in Oak Park. Tickets are only $150 apiece, or if you’d like to buy a table for 10, you can get at the reduced rate of $1,300. A steal! Worried about what to wear? “Think Fred and Ginger” the invitation reads.

Centuries and Sleuths will hold a book party featuring author Luisa Buehler on July 9, at 1 p.m. Buehler is the author of the Grace Marsden books and she will sign copies of her latest novel, The Reenactor: A Staged Death, which will supposedly conclude the series.
