St. Bernardine Parish School commemorated the tenth anniversary of 9/11 with a heartfelt memorial service planned by the class of 2012.
Forest Park Village Commissioners, Police and Fire Departments, as well as many residents attended the outdoor service at the corner of Harrison and Elgin avenues in Forest Park.
The memorial is an annual ceremony at St. Bernardine School and this year was particularly important. The students were humbled and honored to recognize the police and fire departments of their village.
The 8th grade teacher, Mrs. Theresa Szot, planned the service with the 8th grade class. This year’s memorial included students reading prayers and poems, a moment of silence, the American Flag being raised, and concluded with the entire student body singing “God Bless America.”
