I would just like to send out a big thank you to all of the people who helped make our fundraising event for the Wounded Warrior Project a successful one. Yes, we were hampered by a violent storm that washed away all of our entertainment and vendors, pretty much right as we got started, but that does not diminish the hard work of a few people, and numerous businesses that contributed their time, talent and treasures. The tournament end-of-things finished the following week, and for that, a big thank you to point-man John Kwarcinski, scorekeepers Matt Walsh and Sharon Daly, as well as Mel Krejci and his umpires for making that happen so smoothly.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the sponsors for the event; their support is crucial in getting an event like this together. Pat, at McGaffer’s, and Matt, at Murphy’s Pub, took the lead in being involved and making sure they offered their support in anyway they could, but businesses from all over the area stepped up, as well, and deserve a big thank you. They are: Consolidated Auto, Currie Motors, Duckfat Tavern, Midwest Skylite, Glory Concessions, AthletiCo, VFW Post 7181, Brown Cow, Ranger Productions, AFSCME 3026, Ferrara Pan and Woody’s Catering all stepped up in offering support.

Lastly, we could not have done this without the cooperation of the park district. Larry Piekarz and his staff made sure things ran smoothly from the get-go and park Commissioner Eric Entler, as well as John Doss also personally stepped in to offer help. They were joined by Community Center Director Karen Dylewski, whose giving heart is as warm as it is big. So a big thank you to everyone, and we hope to see you all again next year!

Thanks,

Chris Harris
