A resolution was passed at Monday night’s council meeting, enabling the village to start a shop-local campaign that officials have been promoting to Forest Park’s business community.

According to the resolution, the village will spend $14,650 with Governing Dynamic, LLC, to purchase promotional cards that will be given to residents in an attempt to prompt local spending.

Residents can use the cards to save money on sales and promotions at businesses that participate in the program. The shop-local program, the brainchild of Commissioner Tom Mannix, won’t cost businesses any money either.

Commissioner Rory Hoskins was the only board member to vote nay on the resolution. He expressed concern about not having enough information about the company – like an address or a location where it does business – to agree to pay them $14,650.
