Elizabeth Marie Becker (nee) Witte died on Oct. 11, at the age of 71. She was born on Oct. 8, 1940, in Wausau, Wisc. to Paul and Dorothy Witte, and she spent most of her formative years in Aurora.

As a young woman, she attended Concordia University, then known as Concordia Teachers College, in River Forest. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Concordia, in 1962.

She met her late husband, Peter, at Concordia, as well; they were wed just two months after their graduation.

Their first child, Mary Elizabeth, was born in June 1963. Their second child, Peter Daniel, came into their lives in April 1969. Elizabeth spent her time, talents, efforts and energy for the next several years raising her two children.

In 1975 she joined her husband at their alma mater, starting as a Clerical Assistant in the research area at Concordia.  After more than 36 years, four promotions and a stint as an adjunct faculty member, she was still serving in Concordia’s research department as associate director of CenSRCH.

Elizabeth leaves behind her children Mary Hamrick and Pete Becker; her grandchildren Jonathan, Stephen, Rebekah, Rachel Hamrick and Brittany Becker; her great-grandchild Aaden Swanson; her brothers Jon (Donna) Witte and Robert (Deborah) Witte; and scores of friends and colleagues.
