The village applied for a new designation for the half-mile section of Dunlop Avenue between Roosevelt Road and Harrison Street. Instead of a “local street,” the village asked the West Central Municipal Conference of Mayors to classify the street as a “collector.” According to the request, Dunlop averages 900 cars daily and serves as a residential route between Harrison and Roosevelt. Emergency vehicles also head down Dunlop. By classifying the street as FAU (Federal Aid Urban), the village can use federal transportation dollars through IDOT for street repairs.
