William T. Kirk, 85, of Plainfield, formerly for Forest Park, died Thursday Jan. 12, 2012. He was the husband of the late Kathryne A. Kirk (Byers) who died in 2001. He was the father of Eugene (Bonnie) Kirk, grandfather of Jennifer, Jamie (Vanessa) and Jeffrey Kirk, Janet (Joe) Zimmerman, and Joy (James) Masek, great-grandfather of Hunter and Caylee Kirk, Jonathan Zimmerman, Ariel, Cole and James Masek, Jr. William lived in Forest Park for almost 40 years. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a locomotive engineer for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 39 years. William was a member of the United Transportation Union. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1344. Memorials in William’s name can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
