Herbert W. Wendt of Bloomingdale 87, formerly of Forest Park, died Feb. 2, 2012. Herbert was husband of Edna (nee Roehlke) Wendt, father of Barbara (Richard) Wantz, Diane (Philip) Muscari and Glen Wendt, grandfather of Deanna, Jonathan Wantz, Cristina (Arnoldo) Castillo and Eric Guenther, great-grandfather of Sophia Marie Castillo, and stepgrandfather and great-grandfather to the Muscari families. He was brother of Lois (John) Kleinschmidt, Marilyn (Walter) Thunberg and the late Melvin (Kate) Wendt.
Herb served as a B-17 bombardier with the Army Air Corps during World War II and was the recipient of several distinguished medals including the Purple Heart after his plane was shot down over Czechoslovakia. He retired from AT&T/Illinois Bell Telephone. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 405 S. Rush, Roselle, IL 60172.
