Congratulations to Marge Zwadlo who is again in the “Best of the Best” art show at the Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook. The show runs from April 17 until May 24; viewing hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m., Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. until 1 pm. For more information call 630.850.2362. The awards and closing celebration will be on Thursday, May 24. This show is sponsored by the several art leagues, among them the West Suburban Artists Guild. It is worth attending and if you are weak-willed, I’d suggest you leave your checkbook at home.

The Friends of the Library are revving up for this year’s book sale. Your donations are needed for the sale, June 8 – 10. And a great sale it will be! Your books, paperbacks, DVD’s are welcome, but PLEASE no magazines or encyclopedias. Children’s books are always welcome and fast sellers, so if you want a child’s book, get to the sale early. The Friends voted to donate a book, probably a book about dogs, in Loretta Woeltje’s memory. Loretta was a lifelong library member/ user and a lover of animals, especially dogs.

Speaking of art, there is a very exciting art exhibit on display in the Austin Meeting Room at the library.

Cathy Moran, president of the Seniors, reminds us that the seniors will celebrate their 50th anniversary on June 12th . She would like to see more seniors in the club. For more information you can call the Howard Mohr Community Center at 771-7737.

The Oak Park Concert Chorale will present Randall Thompson’s “The Peaceable Kingdom” on Sunday, April 29th at 4 pm in Grace Lutheran Church, 7300 Division in River Forest . Paul Lindblad is the director of the chorale as well as music director at Saint John here in town. Tickets are $18/$10.
