A bronze 2005 GMC Safari van was reported stolen from in front of a garage in the 1000 block of Thomas overnight, May 6-7. Police reported no debris from broken windows or signs of forced entry.

Unlocked garage burglary

Someone entered an unlocked garage in the 500 block of Beloit overnight on May 11 and rifled through an unlocked car, stealing $5 and a multi-tool pocketknife.

Vehicle burglary

An unknown person entered a parked 2003 Dodge in the 700 block of Lathrop, overnight May 11, opened the glove compartment and center console and ransacked the vehicle. The owner said nothing was missing. He told police his vehicle locks sometimes malfunctioned.

Pot and large amounts of cash

Police pulled over a rental car for speeding in the 400 block of Marengo around 11 p.m. on May 9 and noted a strong smell of cannabis emitting from the vehicle, which had three occupants. Officers summoned the drug-sniffing K9, which responded to marijuana on the person of one of the occupants. He also had $4,009 in cash on his person. In the back of the car was a Royal Crown bag containing $3,991, which no one in the car would claim. The back seat also contained several cellphones. One man was charged with violating an in-state warrant and the driver was charged with speeding. They were also charged with possession of narcotics.
