Five individuals suspected in a string of robberies at or near the Green Line station at Cicero and Lake in the Austin community have been apprehended, according to Chicago police.

The suspects were charged with robbery or attempted robbery related to incidents occurring at the station from March through June. A recent robbery occurred the afternoon of Tuesday, June 5, when a male offender leapt from the train onto the Cicero and Lake platform after stealing a young woman’s cellphone, according to an eyewitness at the scene.

The offender fled toward an exit heading down to street level. The female victim went to the train operator to report the crime. It’s unknown whether her assailant is among the five suspects arrested by police.

Officers used security video at the station to identify the suspects. The individuals arrested were: Robert Harrison, 17, of the 4900 block of West Ferdinand; Joseph White, 21, of the 7600 block of South Coles; Raymond LeFlore, 19 of the 4500 block of West Fulton; Darius Nash, 17, of the 4500 block of West Fulton; and a 16-year-old male from Chicago.

Nash, LeFlore and the 16-year-old male were each charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm. All five suspects were identified by their victims, according to police.

The items stolen include cellphones and other personal belongings, police said. The arrests were made by 15th District police officers, in conjunction with Chicago Transit Authority officials. Police said the robbery pattern targeted the Cicero and Lake Green Line station.

Crime in detail

  • Robert Harrison, 17, was charged with one count of attempted robbery and one count of robbery. On May 18, Harrison allegedly struck a 23-year-old female in the face and attempted to grab her bag before fleeing the train. On May 15, Harrison allegedly also struck another victim in the face while on the train and fled with the victim’s iPhone. Harrison is being held at Cook County Jail on $50,000 bond.
  • Joseph White, 21, was charged with one count of robbery. At around 10:45 p.m. on May 25, a 25-year-old female victim was walking outside of the station with her iPhone when White allegedly forcibly took it from her and fled the scene. White was scheduled to appear in bond court on Friday.
  • On March 19, a 22-year-old male victim was standing on the CTA platform at 10 p.m. when three male offenders approached him, one armed with a gun. The armed suspect struck the victim in the head with the weapon and took his tote bag containing a cell phone and computer. All three offenders then fled the scene. LeFlore, 19, Nash, 17, and the 16-year-old were each charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm; they’re scheduled to appear in central bond court on Friday.
