The Superintendent of the Illinois State Board of Education is considering applicants who are Proviso residents to represent the community on Proviso Township High School District 209’s new five-member Financial Oversight Panel.

Christopher Koch will appoint two members of the panel by Friday, July 13 (15 business days from the ISBE Board meeting in Springfield that upgraded the panel’s status to include five members.)

“He’ll certainly be looking for individuals with financial experience and expertise and they must live in the community,” said ISBE spokeswoman Mary Fergus.

According to Illinois state rules, the members will be selected based on experience and education in financial management with consideration given to education finance.

“No member may be a school board member, an employee of the district or have any direct financial interest in the district,” say rules published by the ISBE. Members may be reimbursed for expenses.

Koch has already received several recommendations, but will consider others.
