Zoo animals at both Lincoln Park and Brookfield zoos got a frosty respite during the 100-plus temperatures last week when Forest Park’s Nadeau Ice Sculptures donated a ton of ice to each zoo.

“We brought scrap ice and block ice,” said owner Jim Nadeau. The zoo reported that snow leopards appreciated the cool-down, as did raccoons, who got fruit chunks in their ice and Honey, a 2-year-old American Guinea hog who had a wallow in a plastic tub of ice water.

But polar bears Aussie and Hudson seemed to have the most fun playing with ice blocks in their habitat pool.
