Do you know these people? For about 40 years, this mystery photo was used as a book mark in a Forest Park Library book. Needless to say, the reader of the book wants to remain anonymous. But (s)he returned the book and photo to Kasey Krupa to be returned to the library and the photo to be given to the paper. The photo was taken in 1974! The library patron was most anxious to have the photo and book returned and Kasey is equally excited about the project. Everyone in that photo is about 40 years older than pictured. Who are they? Where are they now?
Belated best wishes and congratulations to Hannah Logan and Nick Morn, who were married Aug. 18. Hannah’s parents are Mary and Gerry Logan of Forest Park. Nick is now employed as a photo-journalist in Portsmouth, Va. at WAVY-TV.
Aug. 22 was a bittersweet day for Kim Haggerty as she sadly said good bye to her grandson on his sixth birthday. On that day, Joe Balzek walked out the door to kindergarten, his first steep into the big world. The longest journey begins with the first step. And every parent and grandparent realizes this as they watch their firstborn take that step.
Belated congratulations to Dorothy (Edwina) Spinelli on her 100th birthday, July 24. Sorry for the delay. Recently, Dorothy and Angelo celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary and the two of them are doing just fine. Their great-grandson, Colon Tomkins will be 4 years old on Sept. 1 and son and daughter-in-law will celebrate 52 years of marriage later in the month. Lots of partying in the Spinelli household this month! Smell all that great Italian food cooking? Ummmm.
Welcome home to Rick Watts. Rick and his pal Bob Daley are visiting all the major league ball parks on their yearly vacations. This year’s ball park was Coors Field in Denver. So far they’ve made it to 17 parks, not counting Wrigley and U.S. Cellular Field (Comiskey Park to old timers).
