The Forest Park Police Dept. was awarded first place in the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Traffic Challenge for departments in the 30-60 sworn officer category.
“We knocked Mundelein out of first place,” said Police Chief Jim Ryan. “They’ve always been first, and we won the first year we participated.”
The department also won awards for accident reduction, speed awareness and pedestrian and bicycle safety.
“We addressed specific traffic issues and programs,” Ryan said.
