The Village of Forest Park will hold a “truth in taxation” public hearing on the aggregate tax levy amount for the 2012 tax year. The village seeks $6,758,003, for 2012 which takes into account a CPI increase of 2.7 percent over last year, or $148,000.

“As a non-home rule community, we are limited in the amount we can increase the prior year’s levy,” Village Administrator Tim Gillian wrote in a memo to the council.

An itemized tax levy allocation worksheet will be on the agenda at a special pre-council meeting on Monday, Nov. 26 at 6:50 p.m., said Clerk Vanessa Moritz. The council will vote for the final levy amount in December, Moritz said.
