Commissioner Mark Hosty proposed, at Monday’s Village Council meeting, renaming a street in Forest Park after the Calderone family. Hosty read a proclamation from recently defeated state Rep. Angelo “Skip” Saviano congratulating the mayor’s family on living in Forest Park for 100 years.
“I know he’s too humble himself,” to ask for an honorary street, Hosty said. “I’d suggest Burkhardt Court near where his family’s businesses were on the 500 block of Elgin, where they lived.”
In 2010 the village renamed the 7400 block of Warren “Honorable Dorothy Calderone Tricoci Way,” after Calderone’s paternal aunt.
Saviano announced four days ago that he was running for village president of Elmwood Park. Peter N. Silvestri, the current village president, has announced he is not running. Saviano was defeated in the Nov. 6 election for state rep by Democrat Kathleen Willis of Addison. The upset has been attributed to redistricting revenge by House Speaker Michael Madigan, with whom Saviano was reportedly feuding.
