Wisconsin thief returns to Kmart for more vacuums

Kmart loss prevention agents on Dec. 17 were surprised to recognize a man they had seen slip out of the store with three vacuum cleaners just the previous day. Still wearing a baseball cap with a logo reading Appliance Distribution Inc., Ronald A. Harville, 39, of Osseo, Wisc., reportedly walked back into the Forest Park Kmart and straight to the vacuum cleaner section, where he loaded up one Hoover Max Extract Cleaner/shampooer and two Shark vacuums, valued at $607, into a cart. Officers awaited Harville as he wheeled his new cleaning machines past the cashiers and tried to load them into a white 1991 Ford Tempo parked in the Kmart lot. Harville allegedly admitted to stealing only three vacuums, because he “needed Christmas money for his five kids.” He denied the previous day’s thefts. He was charged with felony retail theft.

Female passenger attempts to take rap for light pole collision

A Forest Park man was charged with hit-and-run and driving with license suspended and revoked after his green 1999 Toyota Corolla struck a light pole around 4 p.m. on Dec. 20 at Roosevelt and Desplaines. Police arrived at the scene of the crash, but the car was gone. An officer later observed a car matching the description limping down Harlem Ave. with hazard lights on and fresh heavy damage to the front of the vehicle. A woman was behind the wheel of the car which also had a deployed driver’s side airbag and heavy windshield damage. She initially tried to say she was driving, but police determined her passenger, a 32 year old Forest Park man, was in fact the driver. The vehicle was towed.

These items were obtained from the records of the Forest Park Police Department, Dec. 16-20, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anyone named in the report has only been charged with a crime.
