The 3rd and 4th grade class at Walther Lutheran Academy in Forest Park is studying the life and philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the events of the Civil Rights movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s. As part of their study on the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott, students read and examined reproduction copies of the front pages of the Montgomery Advertiser at various points of the 381 day boycott. Students were excited to find the reporters’ versions of events that they had learned about in their textbook. They also enjoyed reading about other events happening in the nation and the city at that time.
