There is no doubt that there is good news at District 209’s Proviso Math and Science Academy. Test scores are up. An AP program is launching. And an innovative dual-credit program with Triton College is just underway.
Credit is due to district administrators and the board, to students and teachers at the Forest Park-based school. However, as PMSA gains traction the contrast between this school and those who have been left behind at Proviso East and West just grows starker. The top students in this district have been siphoned off to PMSA and the hopelessness and failure just take further root at the two main schools.
