Urgent request from the Community Center! Your gently used formal wear can be today’s new prom dresses. The annual Cinderella Project is in need of dresses for this year’s prom. The event is sponsored by the Proviso Math and Science Academy Key Club, which is a student arm of Kiwanis. More than 20 low-income PMSA seniors will select from gowns that have been professionally cleaned, refurbished and altered. Floor length, knee length, mid-length, any length, any size are welcomed. Janet Paulin and Mary Hogan can fit those dresses to any size or shape. But hurry! The dresses must be at the center by March 28.This is serious. Karen Dylewski, Diana Dylewski and Meghan Dowdle are showing off some of this year’s models.
Well, happy spring, March 20th! Eastern Orthodox Lent begins this week. For the rest of us, Palm Sunday happens this Sunday, the 24th.
The Easter Egg Hunt at the park district is held Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m. sharp. Following will be the Easter Extravaganza, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and lasting until 12:30 p.m. It’s $6 for children and $3 for adults. Bring your camera and take a picture of the Easter Bunny. Space is limited so get your ticket early. There will be lunch, raffles, entertainment, Plinko! (a goldfish game), carnival, games and fun for the whole family! Remember, children must be accompanied by an adult. In case you missed “Sister Bernie’s Bingo Bash” at St. Bernardine’s a few weeks ago … well, she is back by popular demand! This time, Sister and her gang will give you the lowdown on the game’s origins (in excruciating detail). Sister herself is an ill-tempered nun, she brings with her a blithe priest and an eager young nun who believes that God controls the bingo cards. You better enjoy yourself or Sister will want to know why. Tickets are $53 for Forest Park residents, $56 for non-residents. This time Sister is bringing her associates to the community center, 7640 Jackson. Space is limited; get your reservation in early. Transportation is available by appointment.
