Three issues of The Review before the election. Three chances to remind voters that the advisory referendum question on the April 9 ballot regarding legalizing video gambling in town is, in our opinion, worded backwards, counter intuitively, confusingly.

So no matter what your opinion on the subject, you have to think twice before you cast your vote on this matter.

If you are against allowing video gambling in bars and restaurants in Forest Park, and that is our clear position, then you have to vote “Yes” on the referendum because the question is whether Forest Park should “continue to prohibit” video gambling. If you think video gambling is a fine thing, then go ahead and vote “No” since you want the village council to overturn its prohibition.

We’re not suggesting anyone is purposely attempting to confuse the issue. Sometimes for reasons of law, ballot measures are just not written in simple English. This is such a case.
