Forest Park Elementary School District 91 Supt. Lou Cavallo told the school board Thursday that the district was simplifying registration for next year to make it easier for parents. The district’s process will be completely open and at multiple locations, he said.

The two-week registration period will take place from Monday, Aug. 5 to Thursday, Aug 15 between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Grades 1- 8 will register at Field-Stevenson, Grant White and Forest Park Middle School.

Additionally, two evening registration days will be offered on Tuesday, Aug. 6 and Thursday, Aug. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Parents with more than one student can register all of their children at any one of the schools at any time, Cavallo said. Parents with a middle-school child should register all siblings at Forest Park Middle School because extra paperwork is required for gym uniforms and other middle-school activities.

Aug. 1 is the registration day for pre-school, Jr. K and kindergarten, by appointment since those students have preschool screenings administered by the district. Those registrations will be accepted at Betsy Ross and Garfield schools. Parents who live south of the I-290 expressway will register at Betsy Ross (708-366-7498) and those north of the highway at Garfield school (708-366-6945).

President Frank Mott suggested the district conduct a survey to capture parent reaction to the new registration process.

“We’re trying to make the process family friendly, and avoid parents not registering their kids,” Cavallo said.
