Water from the Des Plaines River has flooded into parts of Concordia Cemetery. Some of the graves remain under water as of Thursday midday.

All five of Forest Park District 91’s schools were closed April 18, due to road closures in the area following heavy rains.

One school, Besty Ross Elementary, suffered some basement flooding, said D91 Supt. Louis Cavallo, on Thursday morning. Parents were notified of the closings via phone calls and the district’s website. Parents were also notified via the Emergency Closing Center website, Cavallo said.

A decision will be made Thursday afternoon whether to reopen the schools tomorrow, Cavallo said. Forest Park has a total enrollment of 850 students in four elementary schools and one middle school.

ComEd is also reporting 937 customers are without power in Forest Park as of 8 a.m. By 8:30 a.m. that number was down to 215 customers without power.
