All five Forest Park schools will be open Friday, April 19 confirmed Superintendent Lou Cavallo.

The district closed schools Thursday after an overnight storm dumped more than 5 inches of rain on the area. Village officials closed the Roosevelt Road bridge and Madison Street bridge as the Des Plaines river rose to a peak of 11.2 feet above normal at 10:45 p.m. Thursday night. The National Weather Service reported the Des Plaines receded to 11.11 feet at 6:30 Friday morning.

Cavallo said the district experienced a “little bit of seepage” at Betsy Ross school in the basement Thursday, which was “immediately pumped out.”

Forest Park has a total enrollment of 850 students in four elementary schools and one middle school.

Com Ed was reporting no power outages Friday morning at 7:30 a.m.
