Forest Park police arrested a Chicago man June 20 in Stickney and charged him with the June 1 armed robbery of a Forest Park currency exchange.
Cedric Q. Bolling, 25, of Chicago, was arrested by Forest Park police at 4001 S. Harlem Ave. in Stickney around 2:15 p.m. last Thursday. According to the police report, Bolling allegedly used a sledgehammer to smash in the back door of the currency exchange at 7207 Roosevelt Road around 3:25 a.m. on June 1.
A female employee was present in the store and activated the panic alarm buttons under all registers, grabbed her cellphone and ran to the bathroom, where she locked herself in and called 911.
At the time of the incident, police said the offender got away with $4,462, police confirmed.
Investigators discovered after the robbery that the offender called for a cab and reportedly gave his nickname and his cellular telephone number to the cab company.
Phone records led detectives to Stickney where, on June 20, Bolling was apprehended without incident. Bolling reportedly admitted to his involvement in the armed robbery and was charged with one count of armed robbery.
