Proviso East High School Principal Tony Valente will visit Forest Park on Thursday, Aug. 8 to meet potential parents and answer questions about the high school.

The event will be “an early opportunity to learn about what’s coming up for the 2013-2014 school year at Proviso East High School,” said the Proviso Township High School District 209 Community Corner website.

As of last year, around 160 Forest Park students attended Proviso East High School, according to a feeder community data report submitted to the Proviso Township High School District 209 School Board in Nov., 2012.

The event takes place from 6 to 7 p.m. at Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd.

Valente at a glance

Proviso East Principal Tony Valente will begin his second year as principal this month. He began his teaching career at Proviso East in 1994. He taught history there until 2001, when he became dean of West Aurora High School.

 

In 2006 he became assistant principal at Kaneland High School, and the following year he was promoted to principal. He left there after two years to work as principal of Hall High School in Spring Valley.

 

He was hired as principal at Proviso East in 2011. Valente earns $123,000 base salary with other benefits totaling $36,605.37.
