The village of Forest Park approved a contract Monday night to pay for four alleys to be repaved: two on the north side of town and two on the south.
Village Administrator Tim Gillian said last fall and again in the spring that the Public Works Department and the village engineer pounded the pavement and evaluated “every alley in town.” The alleyways were rated for tendency to flood and overall condition, he said.
J. Narulli Concrete of Cicero came in with the lowest bid and will be paid $511,461.50 for the work.
The alleys to be repaved are the 7600 block of Monroe/Adams, the 500 block of Elgin/Marengo, and the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Marengo/Elgin.
Most of the funds for the repaving projects will come from the village’s VIP fund, Gillian said, with a portion coming from the water fund.
Gillian said the contractor will get the green light to proceed immediately.
“We want the work completed this fall,” he said.
