Once again the collection of the Forest Park Historical Society is being parceled out into odd storage locations as the lack of a real and permanent home becomes clear. The hope that St. Peter’s church might be the spot has disappeared as another church has now bought the Hannah Avenue property and rightly is seeking use of its building as detailed in its purchase agreement. That leaves the devoted historical society with one classroom in the church basement.
We’re fans of the rejuvenated Historical Society and of its ambitious programs on the great and curious history of this town. And while we understand glum, worried and frustrated, we urge the society forward. A permanent home will be found. Someday.
