Richard Allen Hendershot, 61, of Forest Park, died Oct. 22. Richard was born to the late Richard and Phyllis Hendershot on July 25, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Richard graduated from Chapman College in California where he received his Master of Business Administration and then DePaul University in Chicago where he received his Law Degree. Richard was a veteran of the Explosive Ordinance Division (EOD) of the United States Army. His EOD unit was attached to the United States Secret Service. He was also an arbitrator at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. He will always be remembered as a devoted father, active community member, and an avid story teller.
Richard had four children Kimberly Michelle, Jennifer Lynn (deceased), Amy Lynn and Matthew Pierce Hendershot. He is also survived by one grandchild: Jullian Maxwell Hendershot. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Hines Veteran Hospital.
A memorial celebration will be held Sunday, Nov. 3, 11a.m.-3 p.m. at Blueberry Hill, 427 Desplaines Ave., Forest Park.
