My wife (Marge) and I live at 7742 Monroe St., next door to that terrible fire at 7736 Monroe. Fortunately everyone was evacuated safely from that building and special thanks to the Forest Park Fire Dept. for that.

We also want to thank the FPFD for banging on our door at 1 a.m. to awaken and alert us to a dangerous situation. Also a special thanks to our mayor for his concern for us and arranging for a squad to transport us to our daughter’s home around 2:30 a.m. for our safety. Thanks too for his being on duty until the wee hours of the morning.

In the aftermath, more thanks to John Doss for setting up procedures to rod sewers, set schedules for demolition crews, etc., in a very efficient manner.

So–our sincere thanks to all.
