The Novaks know what to do when it gets cold—flood the yard and start skating. They made a Blackhawks logo and froze it under the ice, just like at United Center, and away they all went. The Novak kids who flooded the yard are Nic, Matt, Katie, Storey and Nolan. Four year old Nolan was determined to skate with the big kids so he got a little chair to push around, and after a little while of pushing and falling, Nolan was ready to get in the game. It wasn’t long before about forty neighbor kids joined the throng and the future Hawks went at it.
