Illinois State police charged a Chicago man with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs that resulted in a death in an investigation into the crash on I-290 in Forest Park that killed two women early Sunday morning.
Aaron I. Moore, 26, was ordered held in lieu of $350,000 bail, said the Illinois Assistant States Attorney’s office. Police said he was drunk and had drugs in his system when his 2012 Dodge Durango smashed into a stalled 1998 Ford Windstar around 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the two women as driver Evelette Rivera, 30 and passenger Krystle Hernandez, 29, both of Chicago. According to the Tribune the two women, who were inside the van, were not wearing seatbelts. The driver of the Dodge and another passenger in the Windstar were injured, but survived. Both survivors were wearing seatbelts, police reported.
The crash closed the highway eastbound early Sunday morning. Forest Park Deputy Chief of Police Thomas Aftanas said the Illinois State Police are still investigating the crash.
