As part of our journey towards becoming a 1:1 Google Chromebook school we will be having a Panther Parent Night on Thursday, January 23 at 6:30 PM. At this informative session you will learn more about how Google Chromebooks and Google Documents/Applications will enhance your child’s educational experience. FPMS’s goal is to officially put a Google Chromebook in every student’s hand on Monday, January 27, 2014. Teachers will be migrating assignments to Google Documents where your child will (if they haven’t already) activate their Google Account which is the property of Forest Park Schools. Because Google is web-based your child will be able to access their secure account via any internet connected device.
The Panther Parent Night will consist of three parts, a large group introduction to Google and how FPMS has scaffolded the preparation, breakout sessions to demonstrate different educational uses, and then conclude with a student panel allowing you to ask students who are already using Google Chromebooks their feelings and opinions.
Attached to this letter is a “Frequently Asked Question Document” and signature page which requires your and your child’s signature telling us you understand and support FPMS in their 1:1 Chromebook endeavor.
Please mark your calendar for Thursday, January 23, and join us as we take this step towards helping your children, our students becoming responsible digital citizens.
