Carl A. Schwebl, 74, longtime resident of Forest Park died Monday, Jan. 13. He was born May 8, 1939. Carl was husband of Karen, nee McKenzie.
“He had a contagious smile that warmed everyone’s hearts,” Karen said.
Carl was a founding member of the Forest Park Main Street Development Corp. He was a member and past President of the Kiwanis club for over 40 years, as well as the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce. Carl also was a board member of the Altenheim and the Forest Park Historical Society. He was a successful business owner of Reich & Becker Agency selling real estate and insurance for more than 40 years. He also owned La Maison de Bon Bon for 10 years. He found many people their first homes and helped jump start many businesses in town.
“Carl loved Forest Park and wanted to see it thrive and be alive,” said his wife.
Carl was father of Laura Schwebl, Elisabeth (William) Hough, C. Alex (Courtney) Schwebl, Carrie (Ryan Glosniak) Schwebl, and the late Steven. He was grandfather of William, Stevee, Adam Joseph, Marquis, and Jayden Hough, Cameron and Raya Schwebl and brother of Karen (Pat) Marzullo and Mary Ann Henderson. He was uncle of Robert Marzullo, John Marzullo, Linda Meeks, and Brenda Hoppestad. A funeral Mass was held Saturday, Jan. 19 at St. Bernardine Catholic Church Forest Park followed by entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Funeral arrangements were handled by Woodlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations to the Loyola University Medical Center Kidney Dialysis Program c/o Office of Development 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood, IL 60153 would be appreciated.
