Forest Park police arrested a local man a block from Betsy Ross Elementary School following a tip to a Cook County child protection website that he was publishing a social media site with images of child pornography.
Kenneth Sims, 29, of the 7200 block of 14th Street in Forest Park, was arrested Feb. 25 after police with a search warrant recovered from his residence more than 15 flash drives with photos and images of children under age 13 in a variety of sex acts, said the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Sims’s address is one block from Betsy Ross School at 1315 Marengo Avenue.
Sims allegedly posted child pornography images on a Tumblr website called “Addicted to Cuties.” The county task force received a “Cyber Tip” from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about Sims’ Tumblr account.
Police charged Sims with possession of child pornography in still and moving images. He appeared at bond court at the Maywood Courthouse yesterday, where Judge Carol Kipperman set bond at $50,000. Sims’ next court date is March 20 at the Maywood courthouse. Sims is currently in Cook County Jail.
