A Chicago man died after being run over by an SUV on the Circle Avenue bridge when he fell into the street after the Forest Park St. Parick’s Day parade. Forest Park police said John Moore,52, of Chicago died around 3 a.m. Wedneasday.
Witnesses said the man was standing on the sidewalk near the top of the bridge around 2:20 p.m. on March 8 when he suddenly collapsed into the street. At that moment, a Cadillac SUV driven by an Oak Park woman was traveling southbound on the bridge. The SUV struck the man, with both front and back wheels of the vehicle running over the man’s body, witnesses said.
When paramedics arrived, the man was conscious and breathing on his own, said Deputy Police Chief Tom Aftanas. Fire personnel said the man admitted he had been drinking alcohol at the parade. The man was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. The hospital contacted Forest Park police Wednesday morning to say the victim had died.
The driver was not ticketed.
