Forest Park Mayor Anthony Calderone announced at Monday’s village council meeting he had acquired additional funding to help the collaborative Forest Park/River Forest Madison Street streetscape project.

In January, 2013 the two villages received a $1.34 million grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP).

Calderone did not specify where the extra money was coming from to spiff up Madison Street on both sides of the thoroughfare between Desplaines and Van Buren Streets. However, he did say getting access to the additional money would take time and as a result the landscape improvements wouldn’t start until spring  2015.
