The Historical Society of Forest Park will receive around $2,150 in donations made by Forest Parkers renewing their vehicle stickers, said Forest Park Executive Secretary Sally Cody.
A letter asking for a one-time $2 donation was enclosed with vehicle renewal letters this year. In the past, revenue generated by the vehicle sticker charity drive went towards the July 4th fireworks, but they’ve been cancelled as of last year. Some donors gave more than $2, Cody said.
The sticker drive was a project of new society board president Bob Cox, who asked the village for permission to have an “ask letter” accompany sticker mail. In 2012, the vehicle sticker campaign generated around $4,000.
