Lyle G. Bowden

Lyle G. Bowden, 84, a longtime resident of Forest Park and Oak Park, died April 18.  He was born May 2, 1929 in Lake Park, Iowa.  He was the father of Thomas (Peg), Roy, and Robert (Mary); grandfather of Steven, Karly, Melanie, Melissa, Michael, Erin, Teresa and Kasey and great-grandfather of 3. He was the brother of Beryl (the late Lyle) Johnson, Joan (the late Bill) Anderson, Sonja (Richard) Bruns, Mabel (the late Bob) Rush and Mary (Robert) Miller and uncle of 11 nieces and 7 nephews.  Lyle was Past Commander of VFW Post #7181 in Forest Park, and a veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a big fan of the Chicago White Sox and ‘inexplicably’ the Green Bay Packers. To honor Lyle and follow his wishes for no wake or services, there will be a Celebration of Life at Molly Malone’s, 7652 W. Madison St., Forest Park, from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations to Veterans of Foreign Wars, local chapters or www.vfw.org, appreciated. Info. 708-366-2200 or www.ZimmermanHarnett.com.
