Seventh graders at Forest Park Middle School worked online with schools in other parts of the world to compete in the Global Virtual Classroom Challenge. Their online collaborative website was awarded second prize in the Global Virtual Classroom Challenge. The school received $250 for the prize.

“Feeding the Future World” was the name of the website designed by Forest Park Middle School, the International Community School of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire; and St. Therese School, Kansas City, Missouri.

The website focused on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), hunger and charity.

Global Virtual Classroom (GVC) is a free online collaborative learning project that fosters creativity, cross cultural understanding, helping others and teaches IT and website design skills amongst students working together from around the world.

The contest is sponsored by Give Something Back International Foundation in Sarasota, Florida,  a nonprofit educational foundation which seeks to provide life changing, quality educational opportunities to children, young adults, and teachers around the world.
