Anthony Calderone

Forest Park Mayor Anthony Calderone will sit in the dunk tank for an hour at a charity block party this Saturday, he told the village council at the June 9 meeting.

“If you have interest in coming out and dunking the mayor, I’ll be there from 3 to 4 p.m.,” Calderone said.

Opportunity Knocks will host the barbeque and block party, starting at 2 p.m. at the corner of Madison Street and Elgin Avenue. The event will feature food from Forest Park restaurants Piggyback, Fatduck, Skrine Chops, Berwyn’s Big Guys Sausage, Chicago’s Lagunitas and more. The event will also feature kid activities, live music and burger- and pie-eating contests. Suggested donation is $10.

Opportunity Knocks is a not-for-profit organization that provides activities for adults with developmental disabilities.

“You’ve got a good five days to get your arm warmed up,” Calderone said.
