Teresa A. Gladinus

Teresa A. Gladinus, 99, of Forest Park, died July 7, 2014. She was born in Taylor Springs Oct. 6, 1914 to Anton and Domenica Faletti. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1932, she worked briefly at a Springfield hospital, then came to Chicago to work as a nanny. Teresa married John Gladinus, also of Taylor Springs in Chicago in August 1936.    

Teresa worked at Liquid Carbonic in Chicago until her first child was born and then enjoyed being a mother and homemaker.  She and John, a Ryerson Steel Foreman, raised 3 children in the Austin neighborhood in Chicago, then in Broadview Illinois. She later worked at Hines VA hospital until the couple retired the mid 1970’s to Hillsboro, Illinois.

Teresa was widowed in 1982. She remained in Hillsboro until 1999 when she returned to the Chicago area to live near her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Teresa was avid reader and library patron. She participated in a ladies card club and loved browsing antique shops, cooking, baking, crocheting and sewing. Teresa shared many recipes and cooking wisdom with her family over the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband John; one brother Ludwig and a sister Alba.

Survivors include her daughter Elayne Considine of Forest Park, two sons:  John (Gayle) Gladinus of Long Beach California and  Richard (Nancy) Gladinus of Edgewater Maryland; three granddaughters, Karen Considine of Forest Park, Nancy  (Nestor) Markewych of Berwyn  and Jill (Gabriel) Wood of Fort Walton Beach, Florida;  four grandsons, Martin Considine of Forest Park, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Gladinus of Santee  California, Kent (Elizabeth) Gladinus of Bellflower California and Michael Gladinus of Edgewater Maryland. She had eight great-grandchildren. She was the fond mother-in-law of Martin Considine.

Services and internment will be private and held at a later date in Hillsboro Illinois.
